VOLUME XXVI

FALL TRENDS

So it's almost Fall, which happens to be my favorite season. I love the idea of layering and mixing textures of rich autumnal colors.

Although we are in the last week of the official days of summer already we are experiencing a touch of cooler weather in the mornings as well as evenings; yet we all know that we will most certainly be hit with 90 degree temperatures along with 90% humidity between the "official" end of summer and the "official" beginning of Fall...

If you've been in the stores, or on-line window shopping we have been inundated with Fall fashions for about the last six weeks, giving us plenty of exposure to the many new trends of the upcoming season. Let's see what is "du moment"...in my book! Keep in mind that although I've taken examples from the top tier designer runway shows, please know that these looks can be found at every price point, to fit everyone's pocket!

Shoes:
Brogues, bikers, and basics

To start I have to say the fashion gods have had mercy on us...our feet that is! This up coming fall season
brogues, biker boots and shorter feminine heels are de rigurer! Which I'm loving...my feet are starting to tire of 4" and 5" heels...(I know a true fashionista will suffer for the sake of fashion) after all it's one of the oaths she takes!

Accessories:
Jewelry

Gold, gold, and more gold...this season it's all about highly polished gold! Buckles, brooches, bracelets, earrings and chunky uber link chains. Whimsical sentiments and statement necklaces as seen at Lanvin are fresh and new. Belts too are also once again important...take a look at these exaggerated and fun over the top accessories from the fall runway shows.

Clothing:

Novel sweatshirts are trending in a big way this season, it's all about a more relaxed look in dressing, easy to wear and comfortable! Turtlenecks are the seasons 'new white shirt', so why not find a great fitting one and buy it in a few neutral shades to get you through the season...try black, gray, navy and camel.

Grunge is also being revisited again this season. This season it's really more about finding the luxury aesthetic in the trend. Below I've shown a "grown up" more sophisticated take on the trend. Add anything plaid, try fishnet hosiery, open weave sweaters, and lots of layers to achieve this strong trending look.

In a complete 'about face' is the trend of sophisticated Lady-Like, feminine, prim and proper looks. The new silhouette whether above the knee or shorter, or a longer hemline falling around the calf, is the flattering A-line or fit and flair shape. It is also a waist defining silhouette making belts a focal point in some instances.

Pastels:
This Fall season we will see pastels and rich sherbert colors galore. They pop up in cocoon like coats, A-line skirts, sheath dresses, cozy sweaters and even luxurious leather. Pair these cotton candy colors with Lt. grey, navy, camel, ivory and of course black for a visually refreshing look. But also try playing around with unexpected colors such as rich reds, mustard and Hunter greens.

INTERIOR DESIGN

This month I'd like to share Lucite acrylic furniture ideas. It's a transparent and fresh way to decorate a space. After all it makes for a very 'light' way of filling up a room. Keep in mind that several of these items are also available with a hint of soft color, and also neon! You can find these ideas made by several manufacturers. These items are best used as accent pieces, maybe for a desk chair, or a pair of side chairs or possibly a set of dining chairs with a cushion for added comfort!
